The Green Inchworm, performing at D.U.M.B.O. Art Festival Under the Bridge
The MAP IS NOT THE TERRITORY is a serendipitous meeting of artists whose works span disciplines, form and perspective. The title, taken from the quote by Alfred Korzybski, explores the idea that we are not defined by our geography or our art, but rather are a composite of the conversation it incites. This exhibit features the work of artists (both mentors and mentees) from different countries who participated in the 2009 Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). This show has been about breaking down boundaries and creating a community of collaborators beyond nationality, perspective, and artistic medium: The Map is Not the Territory is the product of that collaboration.
