Performing at the Dora Stratou Teather, Athens Grece. July 3 - 2008




Performing as a family. A Colombian family living in New York traveled to Athens to attend the 22nd International Congress of Dance. Taking with them the traditional dance from the Caribbean Coast "El gusano" and making possible that through the Dalcroze Methodology kids from different countries can play, sing and dance the rhythm of tambora shown in the book that has the name of the dance: "The Green Inchworm" by Karla Florez Albor writer born in Barranquilla Colombia. Congratulations!

Karla Florez, presents The Gusano Verde at 22nd World Congress on Dance in Athens, Greece



Karla Florez, author of The Gusano Verde is one of the 700 specialist from 64 countries participating at the 22nd World Congress on Dance and Reserch in Athens, Greece, the largest gathering of dance specialists world-wide.
As part of the work with Ombligo'e Kazabe Karla Flores has have been teaching Spanish as well. At this moment she is pursuing a Teacher Certificate in the Dalcroze Methodology at the RADI Institute in NYC and developing a "Spanish Through the Arts" program, using Colombian folklore and cultural references.
Karla Florez is presenting her book El Gusano Verde and the dance as the best opportunity to showcase one's work to a wide audience of practitioners, dance teachers, choreographers, researchers, journalists and organizers.
Venue is the Electra Palace Hotel, a 5-star hotel with roof swimming pool in Plaka, the picturesque old town of Athens under the Acropolis.
The congress is organized by the Dora Stratou Dance Theater and the Athens Section CID, in collaboration with the International Dance Council CID.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Athens and the National UNESCO Commission.
Karla Florez and the Gusano Verde show will participate at the opening night ceremony of the III Annual Book Fair in Astoria, New York on October 3, 2008.

Invitado por el teatro IATI, El Gusano verde, con la actuación de Valeria Olaya-Florez y Karla Flórez Albor, participó una vez más de una maravillosa puesta en escena. Fueron dos horas llenas de palabras, música y risas frente a un público de aproximadamente 200 niños. Estuvimos en compañía de dos maravillosos actores, el cuentero venezolano Pablo García-Gámez y el malabarista y payaso brasilero Fernando Wanderley. Agradecimientos a Vivian d' Angelo.
